On March 7, 2000, 61% of California voters passed Prop. 22 to keep marriage between a man and a woman.

On May 15, 2008, four judges overturned the will of voters and said same-sex marriage was a "right."

On November 4th California voters will have an opportunity to vote on this critical issue.

Millions of men and women across California are taking a stand

in support of Proposition 8 for marriage and the family.

The government doesn't (as of yet) tell faith-based groups who they can...

  • baptize
  • confirm
  • accept for a bar mitzvah
  • qualify for any other religious function.

If same-sex marriage remains legal, what will happen if a church or religious institution refuses to perform a marriage ceremony for individuals that runs contrary to its belief system? If it refuses, it may be accused of discrimination and be subject to a lawsuit. That is not freedom of religion.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Marriage Protection Simulcast Set For October 19th at Cypress Church:

On Sunday, October 19th Cypress Church will host “The ABCs of Protecting Marriage.”  This CCN simulcast will be broadcast from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  During the program Jim Garlow, Matt Staver, Miles McPherson, Alan Chambers, Tony Perkins, and others will present information about the benefits of traditional marriage.

Several years ago 61% of California voters passed Proposition 22 that kept marriage between a man and a woman.  On May 15, 2008, four judges overturned the will of voters and said that same-sex marriage was a "right."  On November 4th California voters will have an opportunity to vote on Proposition 8 and once again express their views this issue.

Proponents of Proposition 8, the “California Marriage Protection Act,” contend that the initiative strengthens society, promotes better public health and maintains religious freedom.  They cite statistics showing that children and adults are happier, healthier and more successful when their lives are based on traditional marriage and family concepts and values.

A poll conducted on October 6th by Survey USA indicated a 5 percent margin in favor of Proposition 8 with about 10 percent of voters still undecided.  All are welcome to come hear about the benefits of keeping the traditional definition of marriage intact as they consider how to vote during this important upcoming election.

Cypress Church is located at 6143 Ball Road (just east of Valley View).  More information about this simulcast is available by calling the church office at (714) 952-3001.  The event web site is: http://cypress.church.events.googlepages.com/
